About
Buckley Systems
With over 40 years of experience, Buckley Systems is an award-winning manufacturer of precision electromagnets and custom supporting structures, offering end-to-end design and manufacturing in the semiconductor, medical and research industries.
Ingenious At Work
The performance of our electromagnets translates into higher yields in the semiconductor industry, where a single lost wafer can disrupt an entire supply chain. And our components enable particle accelerators to open new therapies for cancer treatment, discovering new worlds in science.
Buckley Systems Limited was established in 1987 by Bill Buckley, who’s been building electromagnets since the late 1970s. From humble beginnings with two employees, we now export hundreds of electromagnets and other products every week to the U.S., Asia and Europe.
The company has grown to a team of over 550, with manufacturing based in Auckland, New Zealand. We also have a customer support and warehousing facility in Rowley, Massachusetts, U.S.
Our History
The Buckley Systems story starts with nuclear physics, reaches from Silicon Valley to research labs, and includes the latest cancer treatments… it continues to this day.
Our Founder
Bill Buckley’s drive, determination and vision make Buckley Systems the market leader it is today. It’s a story of one-part engineering genius and one-part entrepreneurial spirit.
Our Team
Buckley Systems is continually defined by the dedicated people who make precision and reliability a cornerstone of our strategic vision.

Our Responsibilities
We believe responsibility is more than a talking point. It’s our commitment to making a tangible positive impact on the world around us.
As part of our environmental responsibility, we use 100% certified renewable energy. But our commitment doesn’t stop there. We’re constantly improving how we use energy, how we can save energy and how we can be cleaner.
The Gateway
ProgrammeThe Gateway Programme is a 10-week initiative designed to give local students real-world exposure to the manufacturing industry. By partnering with Tamaki College and other high schools in Auckland, New Zealand, we aim to help bridge the gap between education and employment, offering students practical experience and the confidence to take their first steps into the workforce.
Internship
ProgrammeEach summer, we offer a limited number of paid internships to engineering students from universities across New Zealand to enable them to meet the practical requirements of their degrees. Our internship programme provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a real engineering environment.
Students have the opportunity to work across a variety of departments, including Design, Physics, Machine Shop, Coil Shop, Assembly and Testing, Laser Shop and Quality. Whether it’s supporting day-to-day operations or assisting with new initiatives, interns play a valuable role in our business and are encouraged to apply their academic knowledge to practical, real-world challenges. We encourage students to reach out early in the year as these placements are in high demand.
MESNZ Bill Buckley
ScholarshipThe Bill Buckley Scholarship is designed to inspire the next generation to aim high and achieve great things in the field of engineering. The scholarship covers tuition fees for students commencing study or training towards an engineering degree, diploma, apprenticeship, or certificate at any level on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
All applications are made through the Maintenance Engineering Society of New Zealand (MESNZ).
