1978
Bill Buckley founded Buckley Engineering with just two employees. He partnered with a group of nuclear physicists from the University of Auckland, which gave him the opportunity to build high-energy electromagnets for the university research market.

Bill Buckley establishes Power and Buckley Ltd to manufacture industrial dies and tools.

1987
The company splits into Power Engineering and Buckley Systems Ltd, with the latter focusing on manufacturing coil electromagnets for ion implanters. The company makes inroads into the U.S. semiconductor market.

Buckley Systems purchases its first of the new large multi-axis CNC machines and moves to current premises in Mt. Wellington.

Buckley Systems collaborates with IBIS Technology to produce the world’s first machine capable of insulating circuitry within silicon chips, which contributes to making today’s technology.

Design, prototyping and production of magnets for the Brookhaven National Laboratory
in New York gets underway.

The company designs and starts producing magnets for the Taiwan Light Source, the sister ring to Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Synchrotron.
Buckley Systems wins major medical industry contract for radiotherapy.

The company commences production of 28-ton analyser magnet for glass implantation. Factory expanded to increase production capacity.

Buckley Systems purchases a 50% stake in D-Pace, a specialist in precision accelerator equipment, ion sources, design modelling and software.
