RF Resonators

RF Resonators (also known as cavities) are a critical component in RF driven linacs. We’ve manufactured thousands of these devices to strict specifications, and we’ve developed our own custom processes and procedures for constructing them.

We have streamlined the manufacturing of the resonators in a dedicated expansion facility. From welding and assembly to finishing and beyond, every stage is optimized for efficiency and precision. The facility also features a purpose-built, temperature-controlled clean environment to ensure consistency and quality throughout our manufacturing process.

Smarter Manufacturing Developed In-House

Our in-house resonator manufacturing methods include everything from winding the water-cooled copper coils to fabricating, finishing and copper plating the inside of the cavities.

  • Comprehensive Process

    We maintain strict adherence to ISO 9001-certified processes and well-documented procedures, including check sheets and in-process quality inspections. We utilize a large CNC machine shop for the yoke and vacuum chamber manufacture, including over 45 CNC machines.

  • A Better Way to Build

    Our latest technology includes MIG and wire-fed TIG welding machines to provide smooth, high-quality welds, eliminating the possibility of voids or inclusions. We utilize Mazak® brand “INTEGREX” multi-tasking CNC lathes to produce fully finished parts from stock material, specifically for resonator cavity components with side ports and location features that would require multiple setups on conventional machines.

  • Automated welding of resonator cavity components ensures consistently high-quality, leak-proof seams.

  • Helium leak checking is performed on every resonator cavity before shipping, including all welded joints and O-ring surfaces.

  • Copper coils are manufactured in-house, terminated, pressure leak tested and polished.
